FAIL FORWARD

FAIL FORWARD
Former President Thomas J. Watson, the man who led IBM to worldwide prominence once said,"Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It's quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn't at all. You can be discouraged by failure - or you can learn from it. So, go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because, remember, that's where you will find success".

You know, there are some people in this world who think once they fall, that is the end. But that is never the end. It is just the beginning. You can never get to your destination when you fail once and you think you just have to stop there.

Failure itself indicates you are getting somewhere, it indicates you are moving, it indicates you are leaving your present position and moving to another level. Doing something now and not getting it right is a way of moving forward itself.

The thing about most of us is that when we fail in one area of our lives, we are always afraid of trying it again. Why? For most of us, it is because of the people around us, what they will think or say about us if we try again and yet fail again. For some, it is because we are afraid of failure itself.

Why will you be afraid of failure? Do you the number of times Thomas Edison failed  in his attempt to refine the light bulb? He failed 9,999 times. Yet he never gave up, and surprisingly he got it right the 10,000 time. You see how he made history?

Therefore, do not let failing scare you. You just try something, fail and try it again and again and again until  you get it right and succeed. That is fail forward. You fail in order to move forward. Not failing and giving up and staying rooted to the same old position or level with no positive change.

There is a saying,"doing something using the same method or technique gives the same result". Your failing in something might be trying to tell you something. It might be trying to tell you something you do not know before. It might be trying to tell you to change the methods you have been using for you to get it right.

That is failing to succeed. Fail forward. Our weaknesses are never revealed in good times, but only in times of trials. You can never know how strong you are or  how creative you are or how wide you can think if you do not fail.

Remember, you are never a failure until you stop trying. Therefore, do not stop trying until you get it right and your failure lead to success.
